Walleye Fishing on Lake St Claire

Walleye fishing on Lake St. Clair can offer some of the best fishing for anglers anywhere. This great lake offers plenty to anglers from all over, with over four hundred and fifty square kilometers located in Windsor, Ontario. Whether you are looking for Walleye fishing during the winter months or in the warmer summer season, you are sure to catch what you came for. The average water depth for this beautiful lake is around three meters, with no spot deeper than eight meters, and it is connected to Lake Erie on the south end and Lake Huron on the northern part.

Lake St. Clair is the favorite haunt of many anglers because of the size and number of Walleye in these cool clear waters.

The American side of the lake close to the shipping channel has an abundance of fish during most of the year, and bottom bouncers along with crawler harnesses seems to work wonders with the Walleye in this area. The fish like to hang between eighteen and twenty two feet of water here. The Belle River Hump is another area where most anglers report having great luck most of the time, as well as the area close to Mitchell’s Bay just south of the XE2 buoy. Using red beads and hammered gold blades seem to be very effective in these areas as well.

Walleye naturally feed in the early morning and late afternoon, usually around dawn and dusk, and fishing at these times will improve your odds of catching a large number of fish. These fish also like to feed on the bottom, so using bait which will bounce or drag along the bottom of the lake may surprise you with excellent results. Evening fishing offers the best results, using lures and jigs that resemble minnows and worms. Rock piles and weed beds are fantastic places to locate Walleye, and so are underwater structures such as reefs. Walleye will follow the bait fish, so when you see these types of fish you can almost guarantee that there will be Walleye following.

Sometimes the best way to catch that trophy Walleye on Lake St. Clair or any other body of water is to move away from the herd and find spots that are not over fished. Use a fish finder to locate numbers of fish which are not following the usual pattern, checking areas of the lake that other anglers say is a waste of time.

With Walleye fishing, the biggest part to taking a trophy fish is to think outside of the usual ways and take a chance. Twenty percent of anglers catch more than eighty percent of Walleye, and this is true of the trophy fish as well. These anglers have such great results because they know the true secret to fishing any body of water for Walleye, and that is that these fish are unpredictable, and may be at any place during any time, no matter what time it is or what the weather may be.

Fish On! Islamorada - Florida Fishing

Islamorada Florida fishing. It’s what anyone who likes to fish dreams of.

Deep sea fishing. Drift boat fishing on the reef. Wandering around in the Florida Bay backcountry.

Find out why Idlamorada Florida fishing is some of the best in the world.

Islamorada Deep Sea Fishing

Imagine being out on a charter boat, heading out to sea. You’re in a fighting chair, taking a gentle snooze in the sun when all of the sudden there’s a cry…

…fish on!

Instantly you’re awake and you grab the rod with all your might. What do you have at the end of the line? Mahi-mahi? A Wahoo? Or maybe even a billfish!

There’s no telling what you’ll find when you go Islamorada deep sea fishing on a charter boat.

Once you’ve mastered the fish and have it safely back at the dock, you don’t have the energy to cook it. Never fear — many of the local restaurants will cook your catch for you!

Reef Fishing

Maybe your wallet doesn’t allow for a pricey private charter boat. If that’s the case, why not try booking a spot on a party boat? Also called drift beats, they hang out over the reef for a few hours. Grouper and snapper are the main catches, but there are other fish on the reef as well, who might just enjoy a nibble on your bait!

Charter Fishing Islamorada

There are two main kinds of charter fishing in Islamorada, Florida — those that go out into the Atlantic Ocean, and those that ply the waters of the back country of Florida Bay.

Backcountry fishing is generally less expensive than going out in the Atlantic. For one, the waters in Florida Bay are much shallower and usually very calm. Smaller boats are more the rule here, with smaller operating costs.

Islamorada Florida fishing in the Atlantic Ocean takes a bit more robust a boat. You’ll likely need to go anywhere from 4 to 20 miles out, depending on the fish you are stalking that day. It takes awhile to get to the fishing grounds, and the Atlantic can be a bit on the finicky side at times. The seas can be calm or they can kick up!

But either way you go, when it comes to Charter fishing in Islamorada, you really can’t go wrong. The first time I had ever gone charter fishing in my life was in Islamorada, and I caught a 40-pound bull mahi-mahi (dolphin) and a 200+ pound blue marlin on that trip!

Islamorada Florida Fishing

If you are in the Keys, you really should get to Islamorada and try wetting a line here. Islamorada Florida fishing is some of the most spectacular in the world!

Fishing The Henry’s Fork - Box Canyon

It is easy to get intimidated by world class rivers.

I guess the Henry’s Fork was a little intimidating to me.

With the old rule of thumb being that “eighty percent of the fish are caught by twenty percent of the fishermen”, I was pretty much convinced that at least for this trip I might fall into the “eighty percent” of fishless fellas category.

Nonetheless– being the supreme optimist that I am– I was up at 4:30 a.m. and heading upstream to Box Canyon. This is a stretch below Island Lake Reservoir, that is classic “tailwater” and a good place to fish with nymphs.

Now for those of you not familiar with the term “nymph fishing”, I don’t want you to race to the Henry’s Fork with your Armani waders and Italian leather fishing vests–because you might be a tad disappointed to find mainly a bunch of fish crazed males when you get there. Nymph fishing is the term used for the stage of life, when an aquatic bug is residing beneath the surface of water, usually on the bottom.

If that gets you excited–then you have potential to be a fly fisherman. But leave the Gucci duds at home!!

I followed my map to the place where the guide shop had directed me, and took a short hike to the river. Water looked good, but I always get a little suspicious when I am not competing for fishing space with other fishermen. Especially on an easy access spot on a world famous river!!

My suspicions were justified, as I ran the leech/bead head combo through several riffles and pools and came away with bupkiss. I fished for an hour and decided to move downstream to Box Canyon campground.

I still hadn’t seen another fisherman out on the water and it was about 8 o’clock by now. I walked downstream from the campground for about 3/4 mile and never saw another soul.Unless you count the two rather angry Ospreys that were giving me an earful as I stood below their nest. They, of course, had some luck that morning and were chowing down on something. The water was moving through the canyon here at a pretty good volume and I had to look hard for a spot to fish.

I finally found some water that looked good and fished a tiny pocket where I got a hit right away. I casted again to the same spot and……. seven monsterous inches later I had my first Henry’s Fork trout.Hey, a fish is a fish, and at the current “fish story” growth ratio of 1 inch every 3 months-in two years he would become a 15 incher!!

That was it though, another hour went by and no more strikes or fish.

It was starting to warm up by now and I headed back to my truck–stopping to antagonize the Osprey–who were now also laughing at me –due to my lack of fish catching ability.

I considered painting my head white, climbing up the snag to the Osprey nest and stealing their fish– but lacking some of the other attributes of the Bald Eagle–like wings and beak– I opted to just slink out of the forest and let the Osprey gloat.

Bastards.

Oh well, that evening would be a different!!

to be continued…..

Fly Fishing Gear - Sometimes Forgotten But Much Needed

In several of my other articles I have discussed many types of fly fishing gear that all fly fishing newbie’s should own. After reviewing some of my previous tips I noticed I left out two very important pieces of fly fishing gear

The fly-fishing vest- Not sure why this is important?

Fly fishing in a river or stream many times you will find yourself moving from spot to another to seek out that monster trout. Why would you want to waste all your time running back to the bank to grab your tackle box? Wearing a fly vest allows you the convenience of having all the needed equipment on you at all times to keep you mobile. You can stock your vest with the essentials: fly box and selection of necessary flies, extra tippets, line, leader, tools, net, and chewing tobacco. I find a good chew on the stream is always needed :)

A wading belt - I have shoulder straps, why would I need a belt?

Have you ever tried to get your clippers, fly, or chew from the bottom of your waders after you dropped them deep inside your waders? If you have been fly fishing for any length of time I’m sure you have lost something down the front of your waders. If you had been wearing a wading belt you could have avoided this mid-stream struggle. The most important benefit of the often-overlooked piece of fly-fishing equipment is that it keeps you alive. Is this really possible, how? A properly worn wading belt can keep air locked inside and water out for that time when you walk without paying attention and plunge into deep water. It acts as a float tube and keeps you from sinking like a lead weight. Nothing kills your fishing mood like drowning!

Like the various other types of fly-fishing equipment I have discussed in other articles, both of these can be purchased used via eBay or thrift sales, often found on markdown racks at local stores, or from a high priced fly fishing shop. In closing let me encourage all of you not to overlooked pieces of fly-fishing equipment that have a valuable purpose.

Ice Fishing - A Perfect Way To Spend A Winter Day

There is a draw between a lake and a fisherman. The summer brings out your boat, warm breezes, and fishing under the bright blue sky. When the snow puts an icy blanket over it, the lake continues it’s frosty invitation. Eskimos do it. So do polar bears and seals. People in Norway, Sweden, New York and Minnesota do it too. What is it? It’s ice fishing! Wherever there’s a lake with ice thick enough to walk on, you will find people ice fishing. This charming sport has entertained fishermen in the ‘off’ season for ages. Putting on layers of warm, dry clothes, you can’t help but feel a part of the long line of ice fishers before you.

Although the concept of the sport seems simple, it is not as easy as it sounds. People often think that ice fishing only involves digging a hole in a lake and then throwing your line into it. The fact is that there is more to it than just trying to stay warm (although that is often a big part of the experience). After all, it is called ice fishing. If you are not able to catch any fish, than you can hardly call your outing a success. You will find that there is more than your share of hard work involved in catching a fish during the winter. From making the hole in the ice to releasing the fish, there are a lot of little things involved in the process that you never really think about. But if these little things are not done correctly, it may very well result in lost fish.

Once you have arrived at the lake, it is a good idea to make a pattern of the holes that you want to drill. Generally, the experts say to start your first hole about 10 feet from the shore. You should then drill about four to eight holes in a line. You may want to drill several lines of holes that create a grid or fan shape in order to thoroughly cover the structure on which you are working. Be sure to do all of your drilling when you first arrive. As you might imagine, fish are frightened by the noisy drill. Do the drilling once, and they will return to the spot before you know it.

There are two basic approaches to ice fishing. There is the active and the passive approach. The active approach is jigging (done by hand or with a wind-operated tip-up), while the passive approach is done by using a set line. Most ice fishing is accomplished using set lines. A set line is exactly what it sounds like. It is a line sitting still with a minnow on the end waiting for a bite. If you use this method, you are able to fish more than one hole at the same time, as well as do other things, such as cook or make a fire.

A set line will usually be rigged with a single small wire hook tied to the end and a split shot attached six to eighteen inches up the line. A minnow is hooked and the line is sent to within inches of the bottom or into the strike zone. You may also use bear paws to add dropper lines to your main line. This lets you fish at multiple depths. Once you’ve put the lines down the hole, all you have to do is wait for a hit to set off a flag.

Here are a few ice fishing safety tips: Watch your step. Avoid ice fishing near feeder streams or known springs; brush, logs, plants or docks; multiple ice cracks or ice that is popping or otherwise audible; and dark-colored ice that may be weak. Spread out. Too many people congregated in one area may be more than the ice can safely support. Disperse weight and fishing holes.

You’ve caught the fish, now what? When bringing in the line by hand, you have got to make sure the line doesn’t go slack. As you are pulling with one hand, grasp the line with the other before letting your first hand go. You are going to also have to judge quickly how green the fish is before it reaches the surface. If it’s too active, the fish will be harder to bring up through the hole, and you will run the risk of losing what you have worked so hard to catch. Once you do have the head through the hole, the fish is all yours. Now that you have the basics, what are you waiting for? Get out on the ice and start fishing!

Trout Fishing Hints That Will Help You Catch That One You Can Brag About!

Fishing is something I have always enjoyed, and over the years I have picked up many trout fishing hints and safety tips. These have all been learned through my own experience, along with what others have shared with me, and they have saved me many a heartbreak. May I now share them with you so that your fishing pleasure will know no bounds, and you will excel with the fishers dream of utopia.

A - Hooks catch fish. They can also catch your own body or your eyes - even someone else around you. This can happen to a long time, well experienced fisher. Mistakes can happen to anyone, and carelessness can be dangerous so please be careful.

B - A wide and long cap or hat can save you much discomfort from glaring sun on the water, as well as a good pair of sun glasses.

C - Fish evidently have both very good hearing and eyesight. They probably see you long before you see them, and no doubt hear you as well. Some recommend pulling your boots or shoes off, but please don’t be that foolish. Glass, sharp rocks, snags, rusted cans, as well as snakes and other things along with common sense forbid this.

Simply walk slowly, and as soft as possible on land or wading in water. Shoe soles can make sounds against gravel or rock, so just tread slow and easy to your destination, and try to hide behind bushes and debris as much as possible.

D - For more successful fishing, watch what you wear. Never wear bright clothes, or clothes that contrast with the surroundings. Fish can see you much better when you help them with loud or contrasting clothing.

E - Decide before you leave home what fishing equipment you’ll need to take. Take a pen or pencil with a notepad, and first write down everything you want to go with you. Then, as you load up these things, simply mark them off as you load. This not only assures that you don’t forget an important item, but many times you’ll realize you don’t need that unnecessary weight and you can mark it out leaving it behind.

Writing stuff down before hand has caused me to often realize I was way overboard on what I really needed, and have left as much as half the things that were not needed behind. Your list can be your most important item even before you begin loading.

F - One of the most important trout fishing hints I can give you, is to remember to take two of all fishing equipment, such as a tackle box, rod and reel, and water or refreshments when going on a fishing trip. How many times have you gone fishing, way out in the middle of nowhere, only to drop something in the water, watching it disappear down the stream or to the waters bottom?

G - Summer and warm weather brings out the pesty creatures. These little demons can make life miserable for a fisherman, no matter how high his fishing fever is. Some people use natural remedies and others the strongest thing they can find, but whatever you use, don’t forget to bring a double supply in case one has gone bad.

Well, I truly hope these trout fishing hints will help you to catch so many fish, your boat starts to sink, and you have to give half to someone else who hasn’t caught any. That way, both of you can go home and brag about what great fishermen you are. Happy fishing!

Linux Web Hosting

Linux is a complete operating system that is similar but not identical to Unix. It runs on a wide variety of hardware, ranging from Intel and AMD CPUs to more exotic hardware such as Digital Alpha computers, PowerPCs, and Silicon Graphics workstations. Probably the most unique characteristic of Linux is that it is freely distributable. Freely distributable means that the source code for the kernel and most software cannot be withheld. It does not mean that companies cannot charge for it. By means of comparison, hosting a website on Unix or Linux is nearly identical.

There are many options available when it comes to writing CGI scripts on a Linux machine. The most common at the time of this writing are PHP and PERL. There are many introductions, tutorials, and even sample scripts available on the Internet when it comes to PHP and PERL.

Database types available for Linux, depends mostly on the web hosting provider you select to host your website. There are many flavors of databases that run on Linux, but the most prevalent among web host providers are mSQL, MySQL., and PostgreSQL. These databases are all relational in nature, and allow highly optimized communication with your website for quick retrieval of information.

If you plan to host the site yourself, and you own the web servers or the software on them, then Linux (or Unix) would definitely be a less expensive option. If you plan to sign up with a web hosting company, and they own the servers and the software installed on them, you will find that there are excellent hosting options available for each platform at very comparable prices.

Is Your HTML Not Working On Squidoo?

Squidoo lens building can be tricky when you take the extra step to customize your lens a little more than what the site offers as plug and play devices. If you’re knowledgeable about enough code to add a link here and there, then a Squidoo lens can help deliver lots of targeted traffic to your domain once it’s ranked well in Google.

One common problem Squidoo lensmasters have is in trying to add code to their lens and having it disappear once they click Save and Publish. HTML code to make live links is usually created with a link that begins with this bit of code:

a href = “http://

What usually causes the HTML code to drop is that the user pasted his or her links into their code and forgot to delete the extra space that sometimes shows up here between the apostrophe and where the http begins like this:

” http://

The same issue arises at the end of the URL code. When you’re building links in Squidoo, and you save and publish and the code didn’t “take,” try to make sure the extra spaces are eliminated in your code so it can work properly on your lens.

Some codes are no longer allowed on Squidoo. For instance, the iFrame code that was so coveted by marketers who hoped to build a list with an opt in box right on their lens has been removed from the site. Spammers made it impossible for Squidoo to continue allowing iFrames.

Check to make sure you’ve coded it exactly and then if it still doesn’t work, submit a Bug report to the Squidoo staff. They’re all very amicable and helpful in getting Lensmasters up ad running whenever they encounter an obstacle in their lenscrafting journey.

Want to master marketing through the use of Squidoo? Find out how at http://www.SocialMarketing101.com today!
